How to Style a Throw

So many of us enjoy having throws in our home. They are wonderful to snuggle up under, especially throughout the colder months. They also make great picnic blankets in the summer too, but what do you do with them when they are not in use?

Throws and blankets have become a staple for home styling over the past couple of years and these useful items can also play a part in making your home look cosy and stylish when they are not in use too. Take a look at our guide below for how to style throws and blankets in your home.

How to style a throw on your sofa.

One of the best ways to style a throw or blanket is to drape it over your sofa. This way, it is close to hand when you want to use it. Folded neatly, the throw can be hung over the arm of your sofa and depending on the colour contrast between your sofa and your throw, this can either create a statement look or subtly blend in to the colour scheme you already have. From a practical perspective a throw can also help protect the arms of your sofa from dirt and spills too!

Throws can also be opened out and draped over the back or the seat of your sofa. Doing this is a great way to add new life to an older sofa.

How to style throws on your bed.

A throw is the perfect way to finish off dressing a bed. Over the foot of the bed a throw makes a great style addition, especially in a contrasting or complementary colour to your room decor. Either folded neatly or arranged in a looser, more natural way, blankets and throws add an element of luxury to a bed. A bed throw is also a great way to add an extra layer of warmth on colder nights. Unfolded to spread over the bed a throw becomes very useful, as well as looking great.

How to style throws around the home.

Throws and blankets can be used in lots of locations around the home. We will occasionally add a folded blanket to the back of a dinning chair, or on a kitchen stool.

Throws in baskets around the home both look great and ensure they are close to hand and easily accessible for use. If you have multiple throws and blankets to store, this can be a great way to make a feature of them. Take a look at our range of baskets to style your throws in.

If you have a footstool a throw can look lovely draped over, perhaps with some coffee table books stacked on top too.

How to style throws in the Office.

Keeping a throw handy in the office is a great idea. Draped over the back of an office chair it is the perfect way to warm up if you are feeling cold. It is also a great way to add some luxury and comforting texture to a formal work environment. Whether you work from home or a communal office a throw can provide a little extra comfort and small joy to help see you through the working day.

How to style throws in the Garden.

The garden is often an overlooked place for blankets and throws. In the warmer months when we spend more time outside, the need for a throw, to some, seems unnecessary. However, throws can play a great role in the summer. From being used as a picnic or beach blanket, to having something to wrap around you in the cooler summer evenings. Our woollen throws and blankets with their cool, natural textures are ideal for the outside too and we always keep one to hand.
